Surrey Heatwave

Heatwave
It is scorching here...three degrees centigrade lower than it is in in Bahrain (where today's F1 race is, yes, in the middle of the desert!), and they obviously have a lot of wind over there...not a breath in Whitebushes...anyway, good luck Hamilton! ;)

I read somewhere that the average temperature for April in England has been 14 degrees higher than the average recorded April temperature.

It's more than a bit worrying...

According to the weather lady on BBC breakfast this morning it wasn't a record for April on Saturday, apparently that was set back in 1940-odd ('49 I think she said) when it was two degrees warmer, still, for the *average* temperature to be up 14 degrees on normal is absolutely crazy...what's that all about!?

Presumably (at least I hope) we're talking 14 degrees fahrenheit here or roughly 7 degrees celsius-ish. I would have thought the fact that we're having a bit of a heatwave will throw up statistical anomalies like this.

Lets reconvene this when April is over and see just how much over average the temperature was when comparing like with like.

Heh, good point, it might be prudent to hold fire until the end of the month, it could snow next week with these crazy weather systems! ;)
